Besides being used as a flavoring in many dishes, or drunk as juice, it rarely makes the fresh tomatoes as a snack. In fact, recent studies show that frequent eating tomatoes can help you lose weight. How?

Tomatoes rich in lycopene content, a compound which scientists believed could help provide satiety to decrease the appetite hormones.

These findings obtained by researchers from the University of Reading after test-enriched bread with tomatoes for 17 people aged 18-35 years. Given the time that compared to ordinary bread, and bread enriched with carrot, tomato bread was the most satisfying.

“It was a small study, and we can not say what the basic ingredients necessary tomatoes, but the results were statistically significant,” said Dr Julie Lovegrove, a specialist in the field of nutrition who led the metabolism of the research project.

According to The Daily Telegraph, lycopene is a substance that gives red color to tomatoes, and is a key component of the Mediterranean diet. Mediterranean diet has been believed to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and some types of cancer.

This research is certainly interesting to be developed again. Nothing wrong even if you begin to try it now. When fresh tomatoes taste boring, try to eat with a protein such as tofu and fried tempeh. Or, create a menu with grilled tomato cheese on top.
